It seems like every time someone talks about The Used, My Chemical Romance follows it in some form. The 2 bands are
linked in many ways, such as sharing the stage during the first Taste of Chaos tour, signed with Warner Bros. Records or with
companies owned by them. They also have the same type of musical style. If one is mentioned the other is also, it almost never
fails. With The Used newest release “Lies for the Liars,” The Used strikes back, going for the top spot in the
genre. This album shows the range of The Used. They offer up so many sounds in this album and they all sound incredible. They
throw in sweet sound effects in some of the songs that just spice it up. The entire album is just so damn catchy, you can’t
help but fall in love with the weird ass lyrics, but if you want to sign along…..study they CD Booklet!!!
The opening track “The Ripper” is upbeat and can easily be a huge mosh pitting track. It’s not quite
3 minutes, but has all the stuff to be a great one. “Pretty Handsome Awkward” serves up great vocals that almost
are all clear. “Paralyzed” the CD’s 6th song shows off some of those odd effects. A Swing style
to it, with multiple singers, ect. The list of stuff just goes on and on.
If I would compare this latest album by The Used to MCR’s, The Used would have won this battle, but is that what
people want to hear? Probably not, but I just said it. “Lies for the Liar” offers such a big time playlist. With
the odd effects, you never know what the next song is going to offer and what point during the song it’s going to come.
This is a must have album for anyone!!! It’s just so damn catchy! The only thing that would have made it better is if
I didn’t get the “clean” version to review.
