Lets take an adventure back to 2005, a time when the famous Oden concert club was still up and running, a time when a group of guys and I headed up to the Oden to see a little tour called The Girls Gone Wild tour with Hinder and Revelation Theory (Rev Theory now). There is where I seen them for the first time. They impressed me so much I broke down and bought their first album Truth is Currency. Since then they have done many more tours with Saliva, Papa Roach, Buckcherry, and a Euro tour with Evanescence. Now with a new label Interscope Records they release their second effort Light It Up. The album begins with the second single “Hell Yeah.” Its all that the name suggests. After you hear the intro you will be saying. It starts the album off with a high energy blast. A simple chorus laced with high flying guitars and stead drums. Next on the bill is a track called “Favorite Disease.” Its an okay follow-up to “Hell Yeah.” Its not as high energy, but is showcases the vocals and writing more. The title track and first single spins off third. “Light It Up” displays more of the vocal themed music with a mixture of vocals. They also toss in some killer guitar solos that act like accelerant to the track. “Broken Bones” shows how versatile the band can be. This softer track is very soulful and passionate and will surly get the girls into them even more than they already are. The half way point of the album hits with the track “Kill the Headlight.” Its the shortest but catchiest track to this point, with group vocals and high flying guitar solos. The second half begins with “Wanted Man.” With a soaring start from the guitars to a very strong chorus stating “Living on the wrong side of a bullet.” “Ten Years,” spins of the record in lucky spot number 7. It begins a slow haunting sound adding in vocals then drums that drive the track off the starting gates. They also install another aspect to their arsenal, dual vocals. It keeps you on your toes the entire way through. “Falling Down” starts off like a live set would. A long weird intro then a blast of vocals and music to get everything started. It does take a time or two to get use to it, but once you do it should be one of the favorite off the track. “You’re the One” comes off next and if a softer more emotional track as “Far From Over” ends the album on a solid note. It offers up the same energy that “Hell Yeah” started the album off with. They do add in more backing vocals on this track and Luzzi’s vocals sound a lot like the ones from Truth is Currency more than another other track. Overall this album is up for album of the year from me. Its a great addition to the music world and to anyone’s collection that they have obtained over the years. It has so much energy and passion in every track its hard not to like. The amount of work and effort that the band has done has paid off with this album.
