I first heard Faktion
on myspace where they have build a huge fan base. There are many fans waiting for this album and after hearing the entire
thing I can see why. If I had to describe Faktion’s self-titled debut album it would have to be “Range.”
This group of guys has a great range of lyrics and music. Each song has a distinct sound different from the pervious song
or the next one. The voice of lead vocalist Ryan Gibbs is perfectly in sync with the rest of the band. The guitar play by
both Marshal Dutton and Josh Franklin are stellar. Jeremy “Brink” Coan handles the Bass like a pro and the drums
manned by Jeremy Moore have a special sound to them. The band just gels together in every aspect. They show their heavy side
in “Forgive Me and “Better Today.” They also have a softer side like in “Letting You Go,” “Distance,”
and “Pilot”. Then they have an almost Metallica-like instrumental intro in “Maybe,” and you can not
forget to mention “Who I Am” with its great guitar picking. It has great variety of musical talent and powerful
lyrics. They have something for every rock fan. You can go from moshing right into singing along with their soft side.
The album consists
of 12 songs that total a time of 46:55 and believe me when I say that all 47 minutes are well spent. It is an album that you
can put into your CD player and let it go, NO button pushing (skipping) involved. I myself listen to it once then started
it over to write the review. I found myself just listening to the album all over again without even starting the review. This
is a killer self-titled debut, so when it hits stores March 21st, go pick it up!!!!! You won’t be disappointed
