The White Stripes
Icky Thump
Jack White
– Vocals, Guitars
Meg White
– Drums, Vocals
After hitting the road with other musicians, Jack White is back with Meg for a 6th album. “Icky Thump,”
which also is the name of the first single, offer listeners with many new sounds. These sounds are not normally heard on rock
albums, but who better to bring those sounds to rock than the White Stripes. “Icky Thump” starts the album of
hard and fast. While Jack makes his guitar scream, Meg makes her drums hammer. “Rag and Bone” is a story of garbage
pickers in England. While those people go door-to-door, the Whites dress up in their wild
out of date cloths to feel more like them. “Catch Hell Blues” offers Jack’s screaming guitars yet again.
The addition of the bagpipes spice things and makes the album unique, beyond anything ever heard before. They use the Scot-rock to a tee.
While it is a peculiar album it is one, if not the best Stripes album to date. Lets hope the a 7th album will be
in the works in the next few years.
