With on of the weirdest names that I have ever had a chance to review The Cotton Soeterboek Band releases Twisted their first full length album. The larger than live band hitting the ranks of many bands with their debut LP this year, but with a different sound. The classic hard rock sound of the band makes them unique and delightful. The album begins with “Set Me Free” a fiery guitar raging track with old style vocals and a reach for the stars sound. The track takes you back to the past as it is just a smooth track all the way around with a blast from the guitar solo. It does repeat a bit, but I can handle it this time. “Pretty Maureen” comes up next with another smooth classic rock tune that is worthy of a juke box track at local bars across the nation. The title track spins off third, as well ends the first section of the 9 song affair. It is a bit rawer than the first two tracks, as the guitars are very distance in the background and leaves the spotlight to the vocals and the lyrics that is until the solo rolls around. “Colorado” is a bit more passionate as they are showing there sensitive side singing about the beauty of the scenery. “Leave Me Blue” is the same way as it is a very sensitive sounding track as “Little Sister” ends the second third of the album with a bit more upbeat yet softer 70’s/80’s bad ass guitar. I know that sounds weird, but what I mean is it more upbeat than the pervious track, but at the same time it sounds like a soft bad ass guitar sound from the 70’s/80’s beginning. “Gold and Gray” defiantly has that old time classic feel to it with cool guitar solos and a solid key presents on the album. “Still of the Night” has a huge keyboard presents during the almost 3 and a half performance. It is a true classic hard rock track that is easy to get into. The album finishes up with the track “The Game.” It’s the shortest track on the album time wise, but not impact wise. It is a great way to end the album as it is up beat and easy to get into. It is another track that could find itself one movies, radio and in juke boxes as it has that big of an impact. Overall it is a very unique album sound wise. It has a few tracks that could easier become hits with the catchiness of them. It is a very nice surprise and lovers of 70’s and 80’s classic rock will want to pick this one up. A mixes off classic and bluesy rock with the addition of keys are sweet. The songwriting is the strong point as they express it more than the music.
