The new Switchfoot album has hit stores and they are out on the road now. Their sixth studio album (third through Columbia Records) displays a rockier edge to the songs on this album. “Oh! Gravity” the albums title track shows off that new edge. The song is an upbeat smash that is dynamic.  Another stand out track on the album is “Dirty Second Hands.” The song is low-key with that mountain “rock” edge to it. The last standout song on the album is “Burn Out Bright.” This song is an upbeat up-tempo sure hit. My personal favorite song off the album, it is one of the last songs on it. This song is worth the wait to hear. The vocals of the album are up and down. Some songs they are really clear but some are hard to here, yet that is the theme of many “rockier” albums. The guitars are having some breathtaking riffs and the drums are steady. Overall this album has those mountain tops but also has those low valleys. It is hard to live up to a past multi-platinum album(s), but this one fell well short. Although I like a little change, they went astray just a bit far. Maybe, just maybe this will be one of those albums that is better to hear live. Stay tuned to Switchfoot coming to your area and find out!!
