Bieler Bros does it once again! There latest release from their band Skindred is an outstanding album. They offer the
same great rock that we have come to love, but with different sounding vocals then any other band. Benji has a nice little
Jamaican/Reggae voice to it. After hitting the scene a few years ago and having a rough road to it, the band seems to be finding
their groove. The band really gets your blood flowing and your head going with this album. “Roots Rock Riot,”
the title track starts the album off just right, the rockier side of this with some screaming vocals. The very next track
“Trouble” offers up a heavy dose of guitar riff after riff. “Ratrace,” is more of an experimental
sound and the lyrics are a bit weird, but it’s worth a listen. “Killing Me,” starts off very nice with some
“bells” and then gives you a very nice mixture sounds and vocals. “Cause ah Riot, might do just that at
a live show. One of the hardest tracks on the album, during the chorus at least. The final track, “Choices and Decision,”
has a strong message in it. It says “Don’t give up” and that’s exactly what they did after the hammer
was brought down on them. If at first you don’t succeed, try and then try again.
Overall this is an okay album. I don’t
think that it will win any awards, but it is a good foundation in their careers. They seem to have a grasp on the way they
want to continue and I look forward to their next effort to see if they stuck to their guns and proceeded with the newly found
confidence and sound.
