The Silversun Pickups have a very unique sound. With 2 different voices throughout each song they are able to create
a sound of a conversation between a woman and a man. They have a somber soft sound that is perfect for a café or coffee shop. The album starts with “Melatonin” a sweet sounding array of guitar, bass
and keyboard that is brought together with a steady beat of drums. The second
song picks up a bit with more drum presents. The song also displays a simple
guitar solo between lyrics. In the 4th song of the album “Little Lover’s So Polite” the band
shows the soft side, but with a beat. It has one of those beats that you can’t get help to go along with. “Waste
It On” lets you hear the bass more than the other songs. It also brings
the drums along with it. “Lazy Eye” picks up the beat one more time and is one of the better songs on the album.
The album is an easy listening type of music. This is a laid back style of rock that hasn’t been heard for a
while. It has that quiet but not too quiet sound. I do however see that they
need to use the instruments they have and make them louder. It is a little to
soft and needs to be spiced up a bit more. That spice might just take them to
the next level.
The album named “Carnavas” has 11 songs of smooth easy music that spreads out 56 minutes. The album is
in stores now.
