Sevendust comes out swinging, with power vocals and blistering sounds the new album “Alpha.” The album starts off with “Deathstar,” a song that flows like a river and hits as hard as an Ali punch. The CD keeps going like that though song three, which offers a jaw-dropping hit. “Driven” with its outstanding lyrics and brilliant musical solos is by far the best song on the album. The album then hits a lull for the a few songs. “Under” provides a slower song on the album. It has deep lyrics and great music to back it up. They end the album with an old-school ass kicking with the album titled song. The rest of the album has great intros. It is a rollercoaster ride with super high ups and not so many lowers. The guitars play in the album is amazing and so are the drums. The vocals and backup vocals are unique, with ups and downs. In most of the songs they are strong with an exception of a few. In those the vocals are weird. The CD is one worth picking up, but not for all the songs. There are a few questionable ones. I would pick it up just for “Driven.”
