Primavera, is an up and coming band from Victorville, Cali. and not the light colored tree from Central America or the assortment of fresh spring vegetables that accompanies pasta, meat, or seafood. The band started back in late 2006 with Reust and DeGrasse. In May of 2007 members of the band Lorene Drive joined as a side project, but when they decided to focus more on cross country touring Primavera was forced to add 2 new members and in came Neal and Wagner. The band’s EP includes 4 tracks. “Blind” begins with a great guitar sequence with drums easing in. The next thing that hits you is Jessica’s spine tingling vocals. It song is a very strong track and it is worth a listen. It has some static during the song, but I think it was just my connection and the volume I had the song at. The next song is titled “A Fallen World.” It blasts off in the beginning and then is lead by amazing vocals of Jessica. It’s a decent track with ups and downs, fast and slow spots. “Strangers” is an odd track that feature odd vocals from Jessica and an odd time feel to the guitar and drums. The vocals seem like she is miles away floating on clouds. The last track is titled “Fate.” The vocals in this seem like to be coming back to earth, but still in the distant as is everything else. They are not like the first few tracks where they are hard and heavy. Though the vocals are distant sounding they are still the focal point. The music is also in the distant and is a soft simple sound to them. Overall the EP is an okay start to a debut LP. The four song set started off strong with “Blind” and “A Fallen World,” but takes a step back with the final 2 track. Those two tracks sound really distant sounding, which may or may not be due to the downloaded to the website. I wouldn’t mind hearing more of the beginning tracks. You can check out the tracks on their myspace page and see them on a 3-week tour this July and August.
