Linkin Park are up
to their old ways in their latest album “Minutes to Midnight.” How so, one might ask. Simple, they have changed
almost everything yet again. Throughout their three album career, plus a few others in between, Linkin Park has essentially
recreated their selves in all. The first reaction to the album was, “What the fuck is that!” After the second
and third times through the album it became apparent to me that is was one that needed time to sink in. This album was really
hard to review. You come in with the expectation of a certain style and get hit with the classic LP music change. There are
high and low points in this album that I believe stick out like a sore thumb. One of the greatest parts of this album are
the lyrics. They are incredible with many ways that they can be interpreted. Mike Shinoda did an excellent job in hitting places that the band wouldn’t have a few
years ago. The low point of the album would be the music. That is not the music exactly, but the chose of style. Instead of
going with a harder side they chose to go with a more pop rock side and I think that hurt the album. Also, the lack of Shinoda
powerful vocals, I didn’t here them as much as the past to albums. Overall it’s an okay album, but it leaves you
with something missing.
