This Vancouver band hits the ground running with their major label debut via Island Records. Jet Black Stare lead by Rod Black puts forth In This Life for the world to hear and enjoy. Black, which we have interviewed and you can read here, worked with Brightman Music’s Jeff Johnson to create a perfect match. The outcome of the two’s teamwork and compatibility is the very cornerstone of this album. Black, which was in a tragic and freak accident when he was nineteen, has taken this second chance at life and is running with it. The album which has songs that will be feature at WWE’s Summerslam ‘08 as well as 2 on NASCAR ’09 begins with “Ready To Roll.” This track is the one that will be the featured theme for Summerslam and one of the ones on NASCAR. It is one of the harder tracks on the album musically, but still holds the deep meanings that each of the other tracks on the album. It is beefed up on raging guitars and pounding drums which is set off by Black’s vocals as well as great placed backing vocals. “I’m Breathin’” has some great guitar work just like track 1, but it is lead by the vocals of Black and the lyrics of the track. The title track spins off 3rd and is a slower track that is lead by drums and Black’s vocals. It is full of emotion and passion that some bands don’t seem to hit perfectly, but they do. “Every Moment” has everything, a great set of lyrics, simple and elegant music that glides from beginning to end and a wide range of vocals of Black. This is a shining star that goes straight from your ears to your heart. “It’s Over” is another hard track with pounding drums and soaring guitars. It is just the total package as it has that live energy feel to it and incredible vocals. “Rear View Mirror” speaks of not living in the past and you should listen to the words that they are speaking as “Fly” is a soulful southern rock track that will get those lighters going and hands swaying. “I Won’t Let Go” is a softer track that is lead by vocals as “Poster Princess” kicks the volume up again with more raging guitars and talking about a stripper. JBS swings back to the other side with their charm with “The River.” “Listen to the sweet sound of the river” sang by multiple members as a unit and then they add clapping to it as well. It has a lot of passion throughout the entire track. The end of the album hits with the track “Next To Me.” One of the favorites of leadman Rob Black it also is chalked full of passion and emotion as well has holds a deep meaning throughout the lyrics. Overall this album must be on everyone’s shelves and/or CD stands. It is a phenomenal album with a lot of passion, emotion, raging guitars and steady drums. There is no doubt that they will be soon headlining their own tour and playing sold out shows all over the world. They are a must see and a must listen. Check them out on their myspace page and head to the local store and pick this album up, you will not be disappointed.
