Hawk Nelson is everyone’s friend! The band will have their third
album hit the streets April 1st and that’s no joke. The fun and alive band has been on fun-filled tours including
Winter Jam, Faith Nights, and Green T Tour, but now the focus has shifted for the time being on their new album: “Hawk
Nelson is My Friend.” It’s a high energy, highly explosive album that features 12 tracks and nearly 40 minutes
of enjoyment. The album begins with that energy as “You Have What I Need,” jams with a nice intro and unique vocals.
It also has nicely mixed backing vocals with those unique and changing vocals. “Friend Like That,” gives listeners
great music to get into and easy lyrics to follow along with. “Turn It On” has a beat that you find yourself getting
into as easy as an unlocked door. “One Little Miracle” seems to be more down to earth, emotional track. “Let’s
Dance” is more of the high energy of the beginning songs. It again is easy to follow and gives a great message to young
kids. “Ancient History” is a very upbeat, punk-ish sounding track. This will be a great live track as the crowd
can easily get into this track. “Somebody Else” slows the track down at a musical stand point. It is a very important
track that has a great message, just take a listen. “Arms Around Me” is another slower track with a great message.
“Words We Speak” is an upbeat track that displays great intensity with an awesome sound. “I Still Miss You”
rounds out the great album with a simple, pleasant sounding track with another great message woven into a passionate sound.
Overall this is a great album from start to finish. Hawk Nelson does a great job on mixing slower track between upbeat, faster
ones. The passion that is in each and every song was tremendous.
