Half the World
The Death Defying Years
If a poll was taken to see what half the world had in common they wouldn’t say they were a fan or even have heard
of Half the World, yet. This band from the potato state can do more than just
grow potatoes. Half the World has real raw talent mixed with a powerful sounding
frontwoman. The sound of the band is something comparable to a Sevendust, Korn, or Evanescences. I was prevailed even to hear
the rough mixes of the album and even those would zoom up the charts on hard rock charts, satellite radio and record stores
would pick them up quick. The sound is not produced over and over, almost everything sounded as original as it could be in
this day and age. The album which I don’t have the names of the songs started off with the titled track. The track is
an ass kicking waiting to happen. The showcases massive guitars and great drum work with the addition of great vocals and
lyrics. Song 2 has classic hard rock guitars and a nice rhythm to it. Track 3 keeps the ass kicking going like a third round
of a main event boxing bout. Track 4 seems to focus on the vocals, showing the range and power of Mary. Track 5, which is
the longest on the album, is a slower track that is still has a dominant feel. Track 7 gets you into the song straight away.
Track 8 should be a concert classic. Mary showcases a little bit of a rough scream and then a meaningful set of vocals. Overall
this is a great second effort from the Idaho band. The album should do well with the local scene around their
area. If the band gets signed with a label it will go national and quick. They have a great mix and would be an awesome show
to see. I can see them sharing the stage with acts like Sevendust, Flyleaf, In This Moment and Evenescence. Swing by there
myspace to listen to them you surely won’t be disappointed!
