After scoring a cool 200,000 copies of their debut release Course of Nature hit a brick wall, but not from their own doing. Their label at the time believe their sophomore effort wasn’t caulked full of potential hits. One of the songs that would have been on the album was called “It’s Not Over.” Idol fans more notably Chris Duaghtry fans would know that track. The song soared him into the spotlight, but enough about that… for now. Finally, after everything that has happened Course of Nature is ready to take charge and kick some ass once again. The album begins just that way. “Anger Cage,” the first single off of Damaged, is a free-flowing track with many hooks. It shows the bands ability to produce something that is complete and precise. “Right Before My Eyes” demonstrates the passion within the band. It’s strong and could live independently. “Time is Slipping Away” is a quick hitter. It features fast vocals and music than the previous songs on the album. It really gets you into the song and it will defiantly will be a favorite at concerts. “Memory of You” slows down the album a bit, but it has deep lyrical meaning. It provided a dramatic and emotional balance to the album that already showed high impact tracks. “Live Again” is a unique track that offers up great music and good vocals. “Gone” could easily be a single off the album down the road. Its another passionate track with its meaningful lyrics. “How Great You Are” is an ass kicking waiting to happen. Its potential is there and its oozing greatness. “World at War,” with its raging guitar play and crystal clear vocals, starts to put an end to this outstanding album. “Forget Her” ends the album as it started. It’s the bottom bun, if you will, to a huge stack of meaty goodness. It displays awesome guitars mixed well with vocals and an immense drum beat. Overall this album displays maturity from one album to another. The experiences the band went through only intensified the work ethic the band has and the hunger to succeed in this tough business. It is hard for me to see why their formal label placed the other album on the shelf. The second coming of Course of Nature is here and this time they will stay in the spotlight. When you get this album (and I know you will) first place it in you CD player and play the entire thing, then hit the random button and play it again.
