In recent times more and more high power rock bands have been coming out of Canada. Those bands include, but aren’t limited to, 3 Days Grace, Theory of a Deadman, Finger Eleven, Evans Blue and of course Nickelback. Can Cold Driven follow in the footsteps to success or not or maybe create a new path to that huge worldwide status. The six piece band releases their newest album via Catch 23 Records titled Steel Chambers. The album begins with the title track right off the bat. The track offers up an array of sounds flying in and fading out. It also has a range of vocals coming in and out of the track. They do a very nice job changing the vocals from member to member and back again, changing the sound of them as well. Next is the track “Heavier Than Heaven” which is a hard driven track will vocals that stick, guitar solos that battle with the drums. Its one of the best on the album and they also have a video of the song on their myspace page. If none of the other tracks on the album catch your attention this one will. “Cries Become The Silence” rolls of the track listing forth. Inflamed with guitar riffs and near perfect vocals makes the track a possible fan favorite. It drum set really makes is presents known on this track as it leads the track by wrapping a rope around your neck and tugging on it. “Sweet Lies” spins off 6th and happens to be the newest single. The track offers up a great catchy beat with the additions for noticeable effects sprinkled throughout the track. The track oozes live energy and sound, screaming to escape in through the guitar solo. “Cruel Intentions” is an amazing follow-up track to “Sweet Lies.” Its another catchy tune with great vocals and drums. It like “Sweet Lies” has that live concert feel to it as the song continues through the end of it.  “I Stand Corrupted” is infused with a bit of a dark attitude that could be played up a bit more in their next album as “The Crutch” is a slower track lit-up by effects. Take a second to closely listen to the track and read the lyrics in the book. The album ends its 11 song assault with “March Out Of Line.” The track shows the same great vocals as the rest of the album does. It also has the intense sounding guitars and hard hitting drums flaring up during points of attack in the track. Overall this is a solid album. It took me a few times through to appreciate some of the track, but there are still a few that I’m not convinced on just yet. Once you take the time with this album you will find that there are a handful of tracks that could make their way onto airwaves sometime in their lifetime. Although there are no instant hits fleeting from the album that will make the band instant fame (i.e. Lips of an Angel, Paralyzer or Home) this is a good foundation to something later in their career.
